Training Program of Leprosy in Philippines

Training Program of Leprosy in Philippines is a training programme for professionals from Japan’s National Sanatorium for Hansen’s Disease to deepen Japan’s commitment to leprosy control in cooperation with the National Sanatorium for Hansen’s Disease, Culion Sanatorium and the local general hospital on Culion Island, Philippines from FY2014 to FY2018. The training is aimed at professionals (doctors and nurses) from the National Sanatorium for Hansen’s Disease in Japan to deepen Japan’s commitment to leprosy control. The entire trip was conducted in the Philippines, with lectures by doctors at local hospitals and fieldwork to learn about the frontline of leprosy care.

Experts from national leprosy sanatoria throughout the country gained much experience and knowledge, including dealing with new patients who often do not have the opportunity to be treated in Japan, to help maintain expertise in the medical and social aspects of leprosy care in Japan.

Training reports are compiled for each implementation.
