Establishment	Established on May 4, 1974. Merged with Sasakawa Health Science Foundation on November 10, 2010. Transitioned to a public interest incorporated foundation on November 1, 2011.

Purpose	Based on the philosophy, “The world is one family. All human beings are brothers and sisters,” this foundation strives for the well-being of the world and the welfare of humankind, aims to extend the healthy life expectancy of each individual and to resolve not only physical suffering but also issues of social, mental and spiritual health, and contribute to the improvement of the health of all people, including leprosy patients, who have suffered the most of all.
