People’s organizations we support

Even though leprosy is now curable, there is a legacy of deep-rooted stigma and discrimination toward persons affected by the disease and their families in various parts of the world. In the face of such attitudes, persons affected by leprosy began to make their voices heard in order to decide for themselves how they live their lives, rather than have this decided by others. Many associations and organizations have been formed by persons affected by leprosy in the world. Since the 1990s, we have supported people’s organizations engaged in the struggle for dignity and human rights.
